The word "subluxation" comes from the Latin
words meaning "to dislocate" (luxate) and "somewhat
or slightly" (sub). A subluxation means a slight
dislocation (misalignment) or biomechanical
malfunctioning of the vertebrae (bones of the
spine). These disturbances may irritate nerve roots
and blood vessels which branch off from the spinal
cord between each of the vertebrae. This irritation
may cause pain and dysfunction in muscle, lymphatic
and organ tissue as well as imbalance in the normal
body processes.
A Vertebral Subluxation is a condition in which one or more of the twenty-four moveable bones of the spinal column is misaligned and interferes with the delicate nerves that exit between the spinal bones. This causes irritation to the nerve and impairs its ability to transmit or receive vital nerve messages from various parts of the body.
Subluxations are commonly caused by stress from poor posture, poor sleeping habits, slips and falls, vehicular accidents, sports impacts, strenuous exercise, work injuries, childhood falls, medication and substance abuse, and even the birth process.
Chiropractic treatments called spinal adjustments are comfortable, safe, and highly effective. People of all ages, including infants and the elderly, can receive chiropractic care to get healthy and stay healthy.
Years of education, training, and experience enable your chiropractor to determine if chiropractic care can benefit you and/or members of your family. Chiropractors are highly educated, caring professionals sensitive to your natural health care needs.
Many people don't realize that chiropractic care has an excellent record of success in helping not only neck and back pain, but in conditions such as headaches, allergies, asthma, digestive disorders, and other organic health conditions, as well. Maintaining a healthy, well-aligned spine and normally functioning nervous system, is perhaps the most overlooked key to worldwide health.

What is Chiropractic
Chiropractic
is a natural healthcare science that puts an emphasis
on the relationship between the structure of the
body, predominantly the spine, and function of the
body which is regulated by the nervous system.
Chiropractors acknowledge that the body has an
inborn, innate tendency to stay well. In medicine,
that concept is called “vis medicatrix
naturae”, which means the healing
power of nature; in chiropractic, we simply call that
the “innate intelligence” of the body. It’s the role
of the chiropractor to examine the patient,
specifically the spine, and then determine if there
is proper spinal motion and position. The reason
being, that the nervous system (which consists of the
brain, the spinal cord, and all the nerves branching
from them) regulates and controls every function of
your body. The nervous system goes to the heart,
liver, lungs, skin, muscles, respiratory system,
every part of your body; and science has proven that
our bodies are either directly or indirectly
controlled by the nervous system. Many people think
of chiropractors as bone doctors, but the better
interpretation is nerve doctors. Yes, we adjust the
bones and joints, but this is done in order to remove
any interference or insult to the nervous systems
ability to express its inborn healing potential, its
innate intelligence. The nervous system is so
extensive that you can’t put the point of a pin
anywhere on your body, without feeling that point.
And if you feel the point of that pin, that means
that you have contacted and stimulated your nervous
system. This is an example of the pinpoint
distribution of our nervous system. The concern of
the doctor of chiropractic is this: If you have
altered spinal mechanics, such as loss of proper
motion or improper positioning, that can irritate
your nerves and inhibit your nervous systems ability
to express 100% of its function. It’s the role of the
chiropractor to examine the patient through
palpation, x-rays (if indicated), and other tests or
procedures to determine if the cause of the patient’s
affliction, before or after the presentation of
symptoms, is due to the vertebral subluxation
complex.
